The Perfect Season

Trees and leaves
No summer bees
Pumpkin spice
Rain and ice
First comes red
Orange, yellow, brown
Soon nature is dead
The wind gives a chill
While ghouls spook and thrill
Hands create friction
Toes curl in fear
Lips hesitate in anticipation
Too cold to come near
Even the bravest of beasts
Can’t breath the frigid air
It’s a beautiful time
To bundle under covers
Bath in heat and flames
Oh please, dearest please
Don’t take my Autumn away
